Dear Family and Friends,

One glorious night a Babe was born in Bethlehem. There were angels singing, there were shepherds wondering at the magnificence they beheld, there was a young couple, and there was a Babe! Not just any ordinary Babe, but the very God of Heaven had come to earth, not for His benefit, but for mine – and yours. What a night! What a Promise wrapped snugly in swaddling clothes and nestled in a manger! As I read on in Luke’s account of this miraculous event, there is one phrase that keeps popping out to me. “Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.” Luke 2:19

There are some things we just need to hang on to, ponder, consider, and think on over time. As I look back over 2009, I hang on to memories of the opportunities I have been given to serve the Lord in The Philippines, Vanuatu, Australia, New Zealand, England, Scotland, Wales, Norway, and the USA. Each portion of every trip brought me in contact with wonderful people and the opportunity to teach Methods of Bible Teaching, speak for ladies’ events, and sometimes just be an encouragement.

This year was a special one for our family as Mother turned 100 years October 30. Shortly before her big day, she suffered a heart attack and some other medical problems which required being in the hospital 10 days and then a skilled nursing facility for 30 days. Despite being given extra rest medicine in the wee hours of her birthday morning, she was able to attend her party and greet over 100 guests who came. I was able to bring her home with me Nov. 18 and immediately discontinued most of the rest medicine. Within a few days, she began to take steps and is now walking about 15 feet, getting up and down with minimal assistance, and able to enjoy a conversation. For these improvements, we are so very thankful.

We want to send a special “thank-you” to all who went to great efforts to attend her party and to those who sent cards. She is still enjoying them. If you attended her party and left a camera behind, please let me know. I found one among the photo albums when I unpacked them.

All the family is doing well. Paige is a freshman at Okla. State Univ. Amanda is a senior this year. Cheyenne, Callie, Chas, Matthew, and Tanner are growing up all too quickly. They stay busy with various sports activities and school. They are all really good kids and we are all thankful for them and the kind of people they are becoming.

Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and blessed New Year,
