Dear Pastor and Praying Friends:

The weather has cooled, the sumac is beginning to have a hint of crimson, and the teacher in me says, “It’s time for school to start again.” There is nothing like the awakening of the buildings as the students return with noise, laughter and stories of summer happenings. Oh, it’s that time again!

With great excitement I depart for England tomorrow, September 2nd. I am looking forward to seeing friends, former students, and the faces of new students all filled with anticipation and just enough pure fright to tell me they are really serious about their calling and studies. I will have the opportunity to impact lives with the love of Jesus and to place in their hands and hearts the tools to make their ministries more effective. This year, two other venues are being opened to expand the outreach of the college into Wales and Northern England. I am excited to walk through these new doors of service. Pray that the Lord will call laborers into the harvest and that hearts will be willing to step out for service.

I am grateful to have our home almost back in order. After being struck by a tornado May 8 and then having repeated wind storms and torrential rains in June which blew off the tarps and soaked the interior, there was a great deal of damage and, of course, many things to be moved out until the areas could be dried and repaired. It has been quite a project to complete between teaching opportunities.

I greatly appreciate your prayers for me. Please continue to pray that the Lord will give me continued good health, travel safety, and wisdom to teach effectively. Mother is doing well and will be with my brother while I am gone. She turns 100 years October 30 and I will be home just in time to help her celebrate. Pray that Mom’s health will continue to be good.

Thank you for making it possible for me to go to “The Regions Beyond.”

Joyfully Serving,

Mary Herman
